Axolotl Supplies We Actually Use

The minimum for one adult axolotl. Long tanks give floor space — axolotls live at the bottom, not the water column.

Gentle filtration without strong currents. Axolotls stress easily in high-flow tanks — sponge filters are the community standard.

Powers your sponge filter. Get one with an adjustable valve so you can dial back the flow for your axolotl.

Axolotls need 60–68°F. A digital probe thermometer gives you accurate readings so you catch temperature spikes before they cause problems.

The water conditioner of choice for axolotl keepers. Neutralizes chlorine, chloramine, and temporarily detoxifies ammonia during cycling.

One of the most-accepted axolotl foods. Freeze-dried won't do — get frozen bloodworm cubes and thaw before feeding.

Formulated specifically for axolotls. Sinks fast, high protein, and most axolotls take to it without much coaxing.

Good protein source and most axolotls go wild for it. Use as a supplement alongside pellets, not as a primary food.
