For People Who Are Obsessed With Their Axolotls

About

Why Axolotl House Exists

It started because of Bubbles.

Bubbles is our resident axolotl. When we first brought her home, we couldn't find a single resource that felt like it was written by someone who actually cared about axolotls — not just someone who'd copy-pasted care sheets from a forum in 2009 and slapped affiliate links on top of them.

We found conflicting information about temperature, wildly different advice about filtration, and product recommendations that clearly came from someone who'd never kept an axolotl. We spent weeks piecing together real answers from Reddit threads, YouTube comments, and experienced keepers who were generous with their time.

Axolotl House is what we wish had existed when we started. Honest care guides written by people who live with axolotls every day. Product picks that come from actual use, not commission rates. A community where it's okay to ask "is this normal?" and get a real answer.

Our Standard

  • Everything we recommend is something we'd tell a friend starting out today
  • If something doesn't work for axolotls specifically, we say so — even if it's popular
  • We update our guides when we learn something new
  • Bubbles has final approval on all food recommendations

Axolotls are extraordinary animals — neotenic, nearly limbless, capable of regrowing entire limbs, and endlessly fascinating. They deserve better than the "just get a 10 gallon" advice that's everywhere online. We're here to raise the bar.
